Look, it's Jersey from Space! 04:01 20/03/2010, Gareth Branwyn, image, brand blog
Notice of canvas glued to the ground, socks and cotton gloves, which are used to maintain the fragile balloon intact. Bright tape in the transport chamber cooler helped recover the balloon platform.
To the left you can (barely) and Handwarmers cell is on the right (under the Bungie) and Handwarmers camera. The heaters are used to maintain the equipment from freezing.
That's from Long Island to the center-left, the Hudson River, below average, and Jersey, half-right.
And it's that easy - or at least the people of Island Labs do seem that way. Juan Abella has sent us these photos of his recent launch of the balloon chamber. Good work, guys!
Update: John e-mail to clarify that Island Labs is, in fact, on Long Island, and the launch and recovery, both in New York (launched in Roscoe, was recovered in Patterson, New York). My title was just to make a joke about New Jersey to see from space, does not imply that the release was by Jerseynauts. (Er. .. not that there's anything wrong with that. Go Jersey!)
