Cubely: a new 3D printer? 02:00 20/03/2010, John Baichtal, 3D printing, MAKE: Blog
Cube.ly seems to be a 3D printer that uses beams 80/20 chassis 2'x2'x2 ', with all the electronics are identical to those used in Makerbot and Mendel. Draft Charter describes the project objectives:
Provide a total capacity of the 3D printer that can be used directly for manufacturing or can be used to easily create the precursors of traditional high-volume manufacturing, including vacuum forming, injection molding, casting and others.
The device must be built with standard components of the products are widely available and less than $ 1,000 USD. The basic device should not require any other device, as a prerequisite to build it (except instruments identified).
The primary device must be able to be completed by the executors typically 30 hours or less, including the time to buy components and assemble the device in the center should be able to be finished and assembled with a modest set of tools including screwdrivers, a drill, a collection of bits and a circular or table saw.
The main objective is to get 10,000 of hardware Cubely Open 3D printing devices in the hands of 10,000 people worldwide on 1 January 2013.
Awwwwwfully seem preliminary, but nonetheless fascinating and ambitious.
